Is this the part where I write a disclaimer knowing how dangerous a click of a button can be once you start online shopping? Well, it doesn't have to be. I want you to think about what may be missing from your wardrobe after completing my task in my last post about how to 'Recover Your STYLE'. Here are some great tips to get you on your way to being a professional online shopper and think about the time you're saving.
Knowing the brand makes it easier to know your size straight away. You know what to expect when it comes to fabrics and fit. Even though this is the case always check the size guide of the garment you are purchasing. Always check the fabric content and washing instructions.
Look at the fit on the model. Knowing that you maybe long or short in the torso, legs or arms think about the fit on the model. Brands offer so many views of the products online that this makes it easy to see. I know my comfort zone for top lengths and wont wear them if they are too short.
If you're shopping on larger site such as David Jones or The Iconic its best to use filters to narrow down the search. This way 525 dresses becomes 24 if you select colour and style of dress your looking for.
Research the returns policy. Do they offer an exchange, credit or full refund within 14-30 days. Make sure they have contact details on their website so you can easily get a hold of them. Always keep the original packaging!
Virtual shopping is here. I can take you shopping with me. Check out Shop Share!
As a 'Personal Stylist', my job is to encourage people to start taking action and hit refresh, Once you take action, you can expect to start feeling more positive. You will start to feel better about yourself because you’re taking action. Small wins every day lead to great transformations mentally and physically. Then you will begin to CRAVE new STYLE habits because you LOVE the way it makes you FEEL.
Sounds easy? To some maybe, others may just need a little help which is why you have me in your lives!
Choose out 3 of your most favourite garments, be it a jacket, top, dress, jeans, blouse. Think of garments you're likely to wear in the next month.
Select from your existing wardrobe another piece of clothing of similar tone (eg: winter or summer colours) that you wouldn't normally wear together OR try pairing a complementary colour. (eg: nude, tan, rust is amazing paired with blue tones, OR green colours, either sage, olive or forest are amazing paired with pinks or deep berry tones.
Now that you have completed 3 new outfits try them on! If you need to tweak them, try not to go back to your same old look. Be adventurous and try on boots or shoes, scarves and even pair a handbag to complete the look.
This is a great way to work out what maybe missing from your wardrobe and you can even try wearing these looks for a coffee date now we are allowed out or the next school pick up! don't be afraid to take it up a notch and feel the spring in your step.
What do you struggle with in the cooler months?
Maybe you struggle with the cold mornings and afternoons. Then you board the overheated public transport or office overdressed and begin to sweat because you totally got your wardrobe wrong that day! Knowing how to layer up is essential in any season. Here are some great tips to keep you stylish during the cooler months.
1. The key pieces you need in your wardrobe at the moment should be trans-seasonal. These are styles that can be worn on their own and layered back with those existing autumn styles you've loved wearing during this beautiful Melbourne weather.
2. With the cooler days were having, layer up in the morning and on the way home with a great trench. It's the perfect solution for this time of year. Choose a winter coat in a colour or texture that suits your 'Personal Style.'
Wondering what your 'Personal Style' is? Below I have mentioned my style categories and subcategories.
CLASSIC - FEMININE - CREATIVE - SPORTY - BOHEMIAN
Vintage/Retro - Country - Organic/Earthy - Contempory - Masculine - Minimalist
These are essentially creative descriptive words for the clothing you gravitate towards. It's great to know your style categories to keep you on track when making wise purchases.
3. A great pair of boots for the rainy days, not we have had many of those lately. Consider an ankle boot that is well fitted around the ankle and had a pointed toe. Both of these features will flatter your legs.
4. A great collection of coloured or textured scarves. Buying a new scarf to add to your collection can create a fresh way you look at your wardrobe. When choosing a new scarf make sure you purchase a different style, colour, size to your existing collection. Challenge yourself to a new look.
5. If you are a lover of Black, Black and more Black! Look for texture or detail to soften the harshness of the black against your skin especially in winter. Consider navy if you have fair skin.
Look for open necklines as they tend to be more inviting believe it or not. Dress how you wish to be perceived!

Ever wondered where my clients clothes go after a Wardrobe Edit?
Often I have clients that simply need to clean out what they have in their wardrobes to see what gaps they have or even just to have a fresh perspective cast over their wardrobes. Once we have completed the clean out any clothes that are appropriate for other women to wear for job interviews are then donated to 'Dress for Success' - a Women's Organisation.
"The mission of Dress for Success is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life." https://morningtonpeninsula.dressforsuccess.org
Explaining this to my clients makes it all worthwhile as their eyes light up knowing they are helping others after they are done with some of their own clothes. As part of my service, I then take the clothing to the Mornington Peninsula office where I will be a volunteer in the near future.
Shopping in your own wardrobe is the best place to start as we then find out what gaps you need to fill. With my 'Styling System' I can show you how to re-create looks from your own wardrobe.
If you cannot see whats in your wardrobe then book a 'Wardrobe Edit' today. The key to 'dressing for success' in everyday life is being organised. That includes your wardrobe too!
Welcome to the first day of Autumn!
For most of you, the struggle is real when the weather decides to change from 33c to 18c.
Finally, as we say goodbye to a long hot Summer. We have already endured the odd cooler day when we reach for a jacket as we run out the door not realising how cold it is outside.
Well, today I'm going to help you get through Autumn with ease by just following my 5 tips below.
1.Empty your wardrobe
How do you even know whats in that wardrobe of yours? The best way to start is by taking everything out of your wardrobe. YES, everything!
Next, you are going to put items back one by one asking yourself if they can be layered, or worn back with other items in your wardrobe? Are they looking a little tired? I keep my Autumn and Winter styles in another wardrobe.
Tran-seasonal pieces can be worn all year round simply by wearing them by themselves or layering back with other pieces in your existing wardrobe. As you file them back into your wardrobe put them into categories. Did you know we only wear 30% of our wardrobes?
Each season I need to edit my own wardrobe in order to move the summer styles out and replace with autumn styles. More often than not most of my key items stay in my wardrobe all year round as they are trans-seasonal.
The categories are up to you. You may go by style or even by colour/pattern, depending what is in your existing wardrobe.
From here you can see what's missing. Make a note of this so next time your at the shops and feeling the need to splash some cash you are making wise decisions by purchasing what you need. Being organised is your key to success here!
From your list, you'll know what area of your wardrobe is lacking - after 5, work, or casual. It may be that all you need is new accessories. Guaranteed if you go looking for it you'll never find it. So if your ahead of the game and always have your list handy, you'll be sure to save money in the long run by purchasing sensible pieces you'll own for years to come.
4.Try something new
Go on be daring! Try something off the rack you've always wanted to or even a totally new style that's in store. You never know what you'll find. Think about those notes you made referring to the gaps in your wardrobe. It may just be the piece of clothing you've been looking for all this time.
I'm starting to sound like a well-oiled machine on this subject. Yes, you've heard it all before! With the right accessories your outfit will never be dull. Wear a statement bag and just add the right pair of shoes to create a fresh new look. With this in mind, you can wear your favourite classic jewels or add your own fun costume jewellery.
Let me know below how you went with my tips and which was the most valuable one for you to try. Now go forth and release that MOJO hiding within this Autumn!
It's more simple than you think!
If there's anything I've learned over my 12-year career as a Celebrity Stylist is that PERSONALITY counts.
Body shape does not matter. What makes you tick as a person does. We gravitate towards textures, colour, patterns, and styles that excite us. That's what makes us unique and allows our personalities to shine through. So why do we say to ourselves "I can't pull that off!".
Well, guess what - Celebrities try what they gravitate towards at photo shoots and do pull it off with the right accessories (not to mention hair and makeup) they DO own that look and the end result for the camera is confidence! If they aren't confident it does show in the photos.
If I tried to dress Jackie Gillies like Gina Liano from 'The Real Housewives of Melbourne' you'd certainly notice there's something not right straight away!
When I'm styling Asher and Kat from 'Offspring' as themselves for publicity purposes they have completely different styles. (Refer to my 'Billie Files' in earlier blogs) So I think you get where I'm coming from, BE yourself!
How often do you get your outfit wrong for the day? Suddenly the day seems to unfold in a complete tizzy! All because you left your confidence and personality at the door.
More often than not we know what features or areas of our bodies we need to focus on.
In summary 'Secrets to having STYLE like a Celebrity' -
Choose what excites you and give it a go!
Do you hair and makeup, even if it take you ten minutes.
Try pairing the right accessories and put on that fun pair of shoes you always dare to wear!
Balance your figures proportions.
Let your personality shine! Dont get caught up by mainstream shops, dare to be different.
Up the anti - give those fun clothes a go and put your own stamp on it.
Last but not least - OWN IT!
Why not be stylish these holidays? I've loved sharing my tips with you this year but this one has to be my favourite. Whether your camping or glamping over the break or even casual days at work follow these simple tips to keeping your 'Style Mojo' this summer.
1. Mix and Match
'Mix and Match' you say! Sounds like lolly bag your thinking. Well it just an easy way to select what your taking on holidays with you. With a small selection of bottom half and a few tops you can easily create many different outfits that Mix and Match and allow you to travel lightly. Below I have listed ten items for your next summer holiday. Yup thats all you need to create 14 looks.
So here goes; after 5 resort dress, loose fit printed or plain pants, day dress, skirt and denim shorts with four different tops. (two singlets or tees, off shoulder or frill top, light shirt for cooler nights) You can vary these options depending if you are more of a pants gal or dress gal.
The finishing touch to any outfit. I'm never without accessories. It's best to contrast your accessories but still create harmony with your look.
Your shoe section will make or break an outfit. When selecting your shoes keep in mind what outfits from your mix and match selection they will pair back with.
Easy effortless beauty is the best while on holiday. Shout yourself a eye brow and eyelash tint or if you have a steady hand pick up your own kit from any hair supplier and have go yourself! Next add tinted moistouriser to keep that summer glow. Last but certainly not least, your favourite nude lip gloss. I'm never with out it!
What ever you are doing these holidays I hope you take your 'Style Tips' with you!
Hope you have a seriously Stylish holiday this summer. i look forward to sharing you more tips in 2018.

Five Spring Racing fashion tips for your best race day yet!
I'm excited to share with you some great styling tips for this year's Spring Racing Carnival.
1. Creating harmony with your look is key. Matching your hat and dress is classic but doesn’t mean you need to match head to toe, contrasting colours that complement can also look great. Tip: Choose other shades of the colours in your dress.
2. Hats will always be on trend as this is the classic racing look, however, fascinators are fab!
This season we are seeing the following design styles by milliners consisting of structure, height, floral headbands and half turbans.
'Murley and Co Millinery' are bold and beautiful. If you're one that likes to make a statement then Carla's designs are definitely worth a look. https://www.murleyandco.com
If you're looking for a variety of milliners in the one place then head to 'The Eternal Headonist'. They are located in Collins Street, Melbourne or online at - https://www.theeternalheadonist.com
3. Lock in your 'Personal Style'
It's key to ask yourself what style am I? Classic, Creative, Romantic, Feminine or Alluring? Maybe you are a combination of these styles. Then work out what patterns and colours appear in your wardrobe. By knowing what you are drawn to will give you guidelines when out shopping for that special dress.
Ask yourself why you are drawn to these colours, patterns or textures?
4. You may be asking yourself in what order you purchase your outfit?
DRESS - MILLINERY - SHOES - CLUTCH - JEWELLERY. Your dress (pantsuit or jumpsuit) is key! The rest will follow.
Choose a dress that has a neckline to suit your features. A dress that shows off your waistline is always flattering. Fuller skirts look great on most body shapes. You can guarantee the shops will be full of them with this year's trends. Three trends I can spot in the shops; The Three R's' - ROMANTIC - REGAL - RED.
5. Don't forget!
Each day has a theme for fashion and colored roses so be sure to join in the fun and work out the traditional theme to each day. We don't often follow traditions in life anymore so embrace all that Flemington has to offer. https://www.flemington.com.au/melbournecupcarnival
NO NO’s - Strapless dresses, short dresses, no midriffs or super high heels!
Be sure to choose wide heels, wedges or heels that are only 7cm in height so you are comfortable all day long.
Below are some of my favorite looks from previous Spring Racing Carnivals. Good luck and enjoy putting your outfits together.
I'm only a phone call away if you need help putting this year looks together.
